Let's brainstorm different events that the Wigs can throw during the week. One event that I'd love to do (what do you think?):
A Day at the Races
Presented by
The Royal Society of the Powdered Wig
The Society cordially invites you to bring your small vehicle (golf cart size or smaller) to our racetrack and test your might against your fellow Black Rock competitors. The races will commence promptly at two o’clock in the afternoon. Vehicles will be organized into heats according to size and horsepower.
Powdered wigs will be required of all participants and will be provided by the Society at no cost. Guests are encouraged to sip tea and have bad manners, foul mouths, and otherwise undistinguished behavior.
Prizes will be awarded to winners in each heat, including a Grand Prize for the winner of the final race.
*** The plan for this event would be to set up a temporary racetrack on the playa just outside the city with pink cones, then drive our golf cart around the area rallying cars to come over and race. The whole thing will go up and be torn down in five hours ***

Sun, April 17, 2005 - 9:57 AMthere are bazillions of golfcart size or smaller vehicles out there. but we could easy do a person-powered vehicle race on the same track too. that would be awesome. good idea. -

Sun, April 17, 2005 - 10:59 PMOr both at the same time, hell, and have an underdog prize. I nominate camp members as prize material, depending on the status/gender/roxorness of the participants. Honorary wigliness plaques could be contrived.

Re: A Day at the Races
Sun, April 17, 2005 - 11:02 PMThere's always the High Tea. Might want to consider having this at a very odd-ball time in early am. Or setting up a couple of the platforms that LabRat had, and have Extra High Tea, Stiltwalkers preferred. Or as a third option, look into making a platform out of the top of the dome- I don't know how oddball an idea this is, but if we made a flat 'ceiling' to the dome, an elevated tea would be simplistic. Might have problems with rain and/or wind, though. Anyone know of any experiments with non-dome-dome-shapes?
